A Viking Encounter At Tatton Park.
Year 2 Visited Tatton park this week and got caught up in a squabble between two Vikings, Harold Blood-Axe and Edgar and Tata, a Saxon. Fortunately they put their arguments to one side so they could teach the children about everyday aspects of Saxon/Viking life.
Below are some photographs of the activities the children did with two captions. One caption is correct and one is not, but which one is which?
A
The cuts to Education spending were beginning to take effect as the children struggled to master the art of writing with a quill pen.
Or B
The children decorated their clay thumb pots and charms in a traditional manner.
A
Harold demonstrated how to use a scythe to cut the wheat.
Or B
The teachers were particularly pleased to see the new methods of discipline introduced by the government. All naughty children would have their legs sliced off!
A
Joe was not very impressed with the latest Heathfield school uniform.
Or B
Joe tried on a chain mail shirt, similar to the ones worn by the Vikings.
A
Nauman had not realised that school meals were so cheap because he had to make them himself.
Or B
Nauman winnowed the wheat by tossing it into the air and catching it in the basket.
A
Even vicious Vikings get homesick sometimes.
Or B
Mckenzie tried on a helmet and shield for size.
A
Harold offered Lucy some deer droppings. Rubbing it on her hands would enable her to hunt deer successfully as they would not be able to smell her.
Or B
Deer Poo! The latest fragrance from Calvin Klein.
A
Kai wondered if he should be worried about the horn growing out of his head.
Or B
Kai tried to imagine what Vikings used the horns of an ox for.
I hope you got all the captions correct. What a great day!
